Meet Angel! Her mother, Sophia, was on the reservation in New Mexico and showed up at someone's home nearby, very pregnant and gave birth just days after arriving. The area is heavily overcrowded with dogs and if Sophia and her puppies would have gone to the shelter they likely would have been euthanized. So transport was arranged through Rez Dawgs Rescue to transfer them up to Save Me Scout Rescue. Angel and her siblings will be 8 weeks old and ready for adoption by October 23rd. Sophia is a 2 year old Red female Shiba Inu/Boxer mix who was found at a person's home just outside the reservation area in New Mexico. She showed up one day, heavily pregnant and a few days later, gave birth to 3 puppies. She was able to get onto a transport to Colorado and to our rescue because had she stayed in New Mexico she would have gone to the area shelter and risked being euthanized due to their large numbers of dogs in the area. Sophia is nervous at first but sweet once she knows you. She will follow you and push at you with her nose, both if she's unsure and then later for attention or treats. She would benefit from another dog in the home to show her the ropes. She does love to play with large male dogs and greets them with happy 'Shiba ears' and licks their face. She prefers to be left alone while she eats or has a bone so it's best to feed her in her crate. Sophia is hit or miss with cats, some she's fine with and others she wants to chase. Sophia is crate training and potty trained. She is fine with short chain link fencing and walks well on a leash with a harness. Telor (formerly known as Tucker) is a male Shiba Inu/Corgi mix. He is about 7 years old and is looking for his new forever family! Telor is good with men and women but not kids. He is alright with calm medium to small sized dogs that don't get up in his face. We do not know how he does with cats. Telor is good his crate and is potty trained. Stella is a pure bred Liver and Red Doberman who was found as a stray and was transferred to us from Denver Animal Shelter. She's probably had a rough life as a breeder dog as her teats look very overused. She was also likely kept outside in a concrete dog run as she's covered in pressure sores almost everywhere that a dog can have a pressure sore. Stella was also suffering from ear infections and ringworm when she came to us but is now all healed and ready to find her forever home! Stella is super sweet and just loves to ... (Read More)be pet and get attention. She will follow you practically everywhere, too! She is crate trained and does great in her crate though she may be a bit unsettled the first night or two. We feed her in it and give her bones to associate it with positive things. Stella is good with men, women, children and cats. She is ok with calm dogs but dogs tend to want to hog the petting and attention and doesn't want to share her people. Our vet believes Stella is between 6 and 8 years old. Her adoption fee is $225 which includes her spay, dental, deworming, distemper vaccination and microchip. She also comes with an in home private training session to be completed with the adopter after adoption. The training session is mandatory and we use all positive reinforcement.
